Black Dome supports, fields team for South’s top race

Black Dome will be the official gear provider for the Checkpoint Zero Adventure Race, the south’s premiere expedition-style adventure race and the season opener for 2007 in the region. We will provide a satellite store at the race location, stocked with every item on the mandatory gear list.

Our own adventure racing team will also participate in the race. General manager Jay Curwen, his wife Monica and Asheville’s coolest real estate agent, Black Dome friend Chris Brown, will represent.

Black Dome Betties take the all-female Buff Betty in Chattanooga

Chattanooga, Tenn. – Black Dome’s own Monica Curwen teamed up with some of the strongest women in the south to take first place at the first annual Buff Betty women’s adventure race in Chattanooga. Other team members included Cathi Cannon (Chattanooga), Patricia Williams (Knoxville) and Shannon Greenhill (Atlanta). The team ran, biked, paddled and orienteered to the victory in 4 hours and 50 minutes.

Cataloochee says it will open Saturday!

SkiNC and WNCW.org have reported that Catalochee Ski Area plans to open this Saturday, once again becoming the first ski area in the East to open. They opened last year on Nov. 17.
